Backyard putting greens are fantastic way of bringing together friends and family to enjoy the outdoors. Its kind of like having a pool table. When you have people over, theres always something to do, says Richard Stoltz of New Mexico Synthetic Turf in Albuquerque, NM. I the past, people have been trying to install real grass putting greens in their backyards, turned out that no matter how hard you try, it is just impossible to maintain it! Today, most backyard putting greens are created with artificial turf, mounds, sand pits, and interesting shapes can be easily created and maintained. Artificial turf also has an even surface thats ideal for putting. Synthetic greens are virtually maintenance free. They're able to withstand hot or cold temperatures, as well as wet conditions, and are just about always ready for play.
A backyard putting green has such a great social element to it that youll use it a lot more if its close to patios or other entertaining areas. A flat one-hole putting green gets boring fast. However, if you make it challenging, friends and family will enjoy the putting green for years to come. Using a few undulations, mounds, a sand pit, and about three holes will help to keep it interesting and more playable. With the pressures of school, work, and other activities, oftentimes family members dont get home until after dark. Incorporate low-voltage landscape lighting into backyard putting greens to extend the number of hours each day that people can use it, in a nice mood.

Many public spaces are turning to synthetic grass for appealing water-saving landscape solutions that reduce operating and maintenance expenditures. Endorsed for use with canines by the American Kennel Club, artificial grass can also be successfully used, when combined with a regular grooming routine, for public and private dog parks. New York Citys Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) has become increasingly reliant on synthetic turf as a replacement for asphalt and natural grass athletic fields across the city. Through the installation of the new generation of synthetic turf, DPR seeks to increase community access to fields as well as to solve the maintenance challenges of grass and the aesthetic and safety problems associated with asphalt. This surface offers all-weather playability and lower maintenance costs than grass. Since 1997, the NYC Department of Parks has been installing artificial turf extensively throughout the parks system. As of 2007, 118 artificial turf installations were completed and an additional 91 under construction!
Global Syn-Turf is an exclusive artificial grass partner of San Francisco 49ers.
Artificial grass first gained substantial attention in the 1960s, when it was used in the recently built Astrodome. Nevertheless, the first generation was just a green plastic variation of carpeting, quite artificial! Artificial turf can withstand more use and can hence be used much more frequently. This allows sports ground owners to create more income. The upkeep cost on synthetic grass sports fields is only 1/5 of that of real grass.
Since the early 1990s, using synthetic grass in the more arid Western states of America has proceeded quickly beyond athletic fields to residential and commercial landscaping. The dramatic advancement in the quality and assortment of available synthetic grasses, the decreased cost of care and upkeep has driven this tendency compared to natural grass.

Most of artificial grass requires infills which to be installed onto the grass between blades to help the blades of grass stand up and also hold the turf down. It also protects the grass backing from ultraviolet rays which could eventually cause damage and void warranties. Some artificial grass infill options are ZeoFill, Green sand, Copper slag, Silica Sand and/or Rubber. Among all, ZeoFill is the #1 choice for synthetic turf infill for pet owners and playgrounds. Dog owners with artificial grass lawns have been struggled with urine smells for years.. Even though some leading turf manufacturers such as Global Syn-Turf, Inc. has made antimicrobial pet turf to resist the bacterial ammonia from adhering to the turf fibers, but regular infills would still hold ammonia urine resulting in a great deal of smell. Many people are trying to water down their turf once a week to get rid of the smell but never worked properly because water from a hose does not have enough force to push bacteria deep into the ground. ZeoFill is made out of a natural resource from the earth which is a negatively charged honey-combed molecular structure that absorbs the urine like a magnet and prevents the ammonia from forming a gas to become smelly. ZeoFill pulls any gases towards itself and hold it until sodium ion (Na) in rain water releases the magnetivity and the force of heavy rainfall will flush out the bacteria, forcing it through the turf into the ground making your turf virtually new again. The sodium forces the calcium ions out and recharges the ZeoFill when dry. However, ZeoFill will not remove bad bacteria. To remove bad bacteria, Global Syn-Turf, Inc. recommends nits very own Synthetic Grass Pet Odor Neutralizer, this enzyme products will not only neutralize the pet odor, but also remove bad bacteria and clean the turf, using this along with Zeofill will achieve the best possible results on pet's odor control!
To maximize the Benefits of ZeoFill, always install it on top of turf not under turf: When your dog urinates on the turf, the urine will instantly be consumed by the ZeoFill granules preventing ammonia bacteria particles from traveling through the turf. The ZeoFill granule will hold the ammonia water until it is cleaned with an enzyme solution or heavy rainwater flushes out the ZeoFill. The ZeoFill granules will be trapped inside the turf system and has a 5 year warranty on deterioration.
Thinking of grass lawns being installed at a house' front and back yards originated from England where the weather is quite accommodating to preserve and to grow natural grass. Here in particular states that are dry, such thought only will not fly! In cities situated in desert regions like Las Vegas, Nevada, Arizona and Phoenix, natural grass that is growing is extremely difficult. Artificial grass supplies an ideal alternative in such scenarios. As an industry, artificial grass is not so new, it has existed for over five decades. Nevertheless, to everyone, synthetic grass looks hardly old. "What? Synthetic grass? No way! You say, grass that imitates a real one? Do not scold. Artificial turf is going beyond golf courses and football fields to landscapes, backyards, and playground. When Steve Wallace of Santa Monica, California went for synthetic, he opted for longer blades and a darker green color a look he could never achieve with his natural lawn, which on 100-plus-degree summer days turned to dust, and on rainy days a mud pit. Tired of re-sodding twice a year not to mention the endless mowing and watering the 43-year-old homeowner was more than happy to plunk down $5,000 to see installers peel away his old lawn. Now, he says, two little children and his two dogs can romp and roll without enduring the plastic carpet burn of yore, or tearing up the turf. And maybe best of all is grassy it seems.
People have to go up close to it, he says, before they say, Wow, this isnt real.
Makers credit the new "you coulda fooled me" look to the marvels of science. Global Syn-Turf's Maronic, for one, tends to lapse into sports car talk when describing the "combination of aesthetics and functionality" offered by the firm's latest creation, a compact grass it calls Double W series, which contains such space age-seeming characteristics as "Double W shaped blades" and "No-glow technology." The first price on artificial grass is higher than natural grass, but given the fact of most of synthetic grass will continue at least 8-10 years, such investment however makes lots of sense for most homeowners, notably those live in "desert cities".

October 14, 2018 6:50 AM - Businesses in Maine are facing a backlash after Susan Collins, the state’s Republican senator, decided to back the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Two of Maine's biggest industries, lobster fishing and tourism, are facing a consumer boycott following Ms Collins' key vote in the most hotly contested appointment to the Supreme Court since that of Clarence Thomas in 1991. The state's lobster industry is already reeling because of the punitive tariffs imposed by China as a result of the trade war launched by the Trump Administration. The Senate confirmed Mr Kavanaugh by 50 votes to 48 with Lisa Murkowski, another Republican, voting against his appointment but Joe Manchin, a Democrat from West Virginia, backing President Trump’s nominee. Ms Collins had been one of the waverers as Mr Kavanaugh faced a wave of sexual misconduct allegations, which he angrily denied. His confirmation infuriated women's rights campaigners and the controversy has shown little sign of abating in the aftermath of the vote. A crowdfunding campaign has already raised $3 million for any Democrat who runs against Ms Collins in 2020. Brett Kavanaugh's appointment was confirmed by the Senate Credit: Andrew Hamik/AP The boycott campaign took off when John Fugelsang, a comedian and actor, took to Twitter to voice his disgust to his 413,000 followers. “Dear Susan Collins – I really struggled with this but my tourist $ just voted against ever visiting Maine while you remain in office,” he tweeted. Mr Fugelsang has since said he was only joking, but already people have been voting with their wallets. They include John Tesar, the owner of six restaurants in Texas, who spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on Maine seafood every year. He said he will look elsewhere in order to encourage Maine’s fishermen to vote her out of office. Mark Murrll's lobster business is facing a boycott because of Susan Collin's business Credit: Mark Murrell/Portland Press Herald “My intention was not to harm the Maine fishing industry, but to encourage people to take a stand for what they believe in, especially come election day, to remove people who supported Kavanaugh, and subscribe to his treatment of women,’ he said. “Moving forward, I will educate myself on the source of the seafood we use in my restaurants and understand who is providing it and who they support politically, to make better decisions. Mark Murrell, who runs GetMaineLobster.com, is among the businesses which bore the brunt of those incensed by Ms Collins’ vote. “We had customers who have contacted us saying they are boycotting us because of her speech and vote,” said Mr Murrell. “Basically they want businesses like ours to hustle and vote her out. But she is not up for re-election until 2020. “But we have also had people from the other side who, after they read the story, contacted me and said they were going to order more.” Mr Murrell said he had written to Senator Collins following her decision. “I was not happy with the course she took.” The Telegraph approached Senator Collins’ office, which declined to comment.
