The San Francisco 49ers: an exclusive dinner to kick off the 2018 football season on the field at Levis Stadium August 28

San Francisco 49ers announce a multi-year partnership with Global Syn-Turf

In 2014, when the 49ers moved to the 68,500-capacity Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, the home of five Super Bowl champion teams and great players including Jerry Rice, Steve Young, and Joe Montana, the development of the featured pregame tailgating area started. The "Faithful Mile" concept was dedicated to the fans to offer pre-game entertainment and a place to gather with friends while tasting food and refreshments before entering the stadium. Along the 60,000-square-foot space are bars, merchandise kiosks, food stands, as well as fun and games presented by 49ers team partners. The Levi's stadium is unlike any other stadium built in the NFL.

"We developed the Faithful Mile to have the feel of a football marketplace outside Levi's Stadium, a special destination where our fans can meet friends before the game for entertainment and celebration," stated Brent Schoeb, Vice President of Corporate Partnership. "Adding the synthetic turf from Global Syn-Turf has given space a distinct football feel that has helped boost fan engagement with our partners and vendors over the last year."

Un-paving the way and providing a cushioned walkway for the hundreds of thousands of fans who visit Levi's Stadium on game days each year is 50,000 square feet of Global Syn-Turf artificial turf. The multi-year partnership with the San Francisco 49ers started in 2017.

"We installed Pro Putt 44 turf as it is easily laid on the hard cement surface without jeopardizing the safety and avoid tripping risks for the Levi's Stadium patrons," says Dave Maronic, a Vice President at Global Syn-Turf. "We needed a fine, clean look with a synthetic turf that could endure thousands of Niners fans every home game and add to their unforgettable experience. Rolling out the ‘green carpet' for 49ers fans is something Global Syn-Turf takes great pride in."

Unlike most major stadiums that use a massive amount of energy and water, Levi's Stadium is different. It is the first NFL football stadium in the United States to gain U.S. Green Building and LEED Gold Certification, a rating system by the U.S. Green Building Council. 85% of the used water is recycled. 1,150 solar panels are installed on top of the nine-story suit tower. The roof featured drought-resistant native California plants that help to cool down the suite tower. Levi's Stadium and Global Syn-Turf, Inc. share a devotion to environmental responsibility and water conservation state-wide efforts.

Global Syn-Turf, Inc. also holds the U.S. Green Building and LEED Certification within the categories of water-efficient landscaping, recycled content and innovative design. The eco-friendly nature of synthetic turf makes its applications sustainable. It required no water and reduces maintenance costs related to mowing and irrigation equipment adding LEED points to the array of building projects.

The partnership expands its scope to the local community. The opening of Levi's stadium opened new opportunities to support Bay Area youth education program; the fact is less likely know to the public. The Denise DeBartolo York Education Center and the Chevron STEM Zone quickly became a home for students 7th through 12th grade interested in science, technology, engineering, art, and math. The center located inside the 49ers Museum offers free-of-charge, comprehensive program. With the 60,000 capacity, it inspires, connects, and engages kids in reaching their full potential and enhancing their critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity along with technical skills.

For efforts in youth education, the 49ers were named 2015 Sports Team of the Year by Beyond Sport. They became a finalist for ESPN Sports Humanitarian Team of the Years 2015-2016.
