In the past decade, the use of "new generation" artificial turf is becoming fairly common through the USA. Synthetic grass applications are receiving extremely popular in western states including Arizona, California and Nevada. Such states are areas where outdoor water use is low or limited care is wanted. Common uses include residential lawns, veterinary clinics, animal shelters, golf practice ranges, school yards, and low water use landscapes.

The marketplace of residential yards has been growing at the average yearly speed of thirty five percent even during the economy declines. As marketplace grows, costs are coming down drastically which in turn to fuel additional market increase! Alvin Balahadia used to benefit an artificial grass installation firm in San Jose, California, he recalls the way the selling of synthetic grass for residential lawn applications fifteen years ago: You walked in a house as a salesman, the first question to the homeowners was: "Do you understand the artificial grass is a high-end thing, only the top ten percent of the family can afford it?" This might sound authentic although humiliating. Such price range is still much higher than natural grass. If you can get your investment back within first five years by saving cash on care and water, then you enjoy the beautiful lawn for the next 10 years without any water bills and the hassles and trimming, will you do it? The understand I will." Said Alvin Balahadia :"it's a superb investment in your house as houses with synthetic grass lawns are considered with upgraded premium options in San Francisco Bay Area and other dry states like Arizona and Nevada."

On average, a home in San Francisco Bay Area can save between $600.00 and $1,200.00 per year on water bill along if they get rid of the natural grass lawns.

More than eighty percent of people who are interested in artificial grass are dog owners! Why? Most dogs will have an area in the yard that they choose to use when they relieve themselves, which will ruin the nature grass and creating ugly looking brown spots, before synthetic grass, there is almost no real solutions for this problem. In general, artificial turf drains well and pet messes can be cleaned up easily. Leading artificial grass manufacturers like Global Syn-Turf,Inc., has developed petgrass with unique features such as a knitted flow-through backing, durable blades and antimicrobial protection. Such premium products have become the ideal surfacing option for kennels, dog boarding and pet facilities, dog parks, and vet clinics, both indoors and out. Most of the professional petgrass installers will suggest to use organic and environmentally safe Zeofill on to the artificial grass as the urine neutralizer which will minimize the dog odor naturally. Dont worry if you have a pet odor problem, attach your garden hose to Synthetic Grass Pet Odor Neutralizer bottle and spray, the smell will be gone! Such products are available through such artificial grass companies as Global Syn-Turf, Inc..

To keep your pet's area clean and odor-free, a properly installed under-drain system is very critical. A proper base system should be about 3-4 inches: 2 - 2 inches of drain rock, compact to 90% and 1 11/2 inches of either class II road base or decomposed granite compact to 90%.

Such base surface should be as level as possible with a slight grade for optimal drainage. "We all love our dogs, provide them with the best: low maintenance and long lasting artificial grass!" David Maronic, Vice President of Global Syn-Turf, Inc. made the comments at a home show in Orange County, California.

A backyard putting green constructed of artificial turf costs an average of $14 per square foot. Contrast that with an average of $8-$12 per square foot for a regular artificial turf lawn, and a backyard putting green looks like a really good deal truly given the use you'll get out of it.

When designed with originality and a spirit of pleasure, a backyard putting green may be a popular gathering spot for friends and family to appreciate one another's company and the delights of the outside for years in the future. Artificial lawn is stronger than organic turf and can be utilized with no rest durations that turf that is organic requires to keep the grass healthy. The New York City Department of Parks and Recreation (NYCDPR) estimates that annum, let use (hours per yr) for artificial turf sports fields is 28-percent higher than for grass areas that are natural. The maintenance prices of synthetic grass will vary based on design and the industry's use, but are usually estimated to be lower than the upkeep costs of normal turf. Organic turf requires fertilizer application, regular cutting, insect control and possibly sprinkling. Artificial turf needs replacing infill materials, repairing seams and removing weeds and moss. Specific equipment, that might or may not be included in the field's buy cost, is required for these actions.

In regards to the synthetic turf fields installments, most of contractors have already been using crumb rubber along with silica sands as the main infills. The blades of sport field synthetic lawn products are no less than 2-1/4" high which supply enough space for infills. Of having infills insport areas the purpose would be to provide enough cushioning for the fields consequently to decrease the hazards of body harms. Crumb rubber and sand combination can function such function very well. Crumb rubber is made by grinding tires that were used. Fibre and metal fatigue components are eliminated throughout the procedure and the rubber pellets are sorted by size. Pellet dimensions ranging from about one-sixteenth to one quarter inch in diameter are used on artificial turf. Crumb rubber is commonly used at a speed of two to three pounds per square feet of field surface. Both studies figured health threats to children caused by the intake of crumb rubber are low.

However, there are still a lot people do not like the notion to utilize the crumb rubber in artificial turf sport areas, it may get real popular to amounts of distress, in addition to the rubber go on and off the area and will get on people's physique. Many parents have complained that their kids were covered with black rubbers after playing on the fields. Again, although the available advice on crumb rubber and crumb rubber infilled turf fields suggests that intake, skin or inhalation exposures to substances in or released from crumb rubber usually do not pose an important public-health issue, leading artificial lawn companies like Global Syn-Turf, Inc. is working on new technologies and methods to get rid of the rubbers and take the artificial grass sport areas uses to a new "All-Green" level.

Most synthetic turf products require infills which to be installed onto the grass between blades to help the blades of grass stand up and also hold the turf down. In addition, it protects the grass backing from ultraviolet rays that could cause damage and void guarantees. Some artificial grass infill options are ZeoFill, Green sand, Copper slag, Silica Sand and Rubber. Among all, ZeoFill is the choice for synthetic turf infill for playgrounds and pet owners. Dog owners with artificial grass lawns have been struggled with urine smells for years.. Many individuals want to water down their turf one time a week to get rid of the smell but never worked correctly because water from a hose does not have enough force to shove bacteria deep into the earth. ZeoFill is made out of a natural resource from the earth that is a negatively charged honey combed molecular structure that prevents the ammonia from forming a gas to become smelly and absorbs the urine. ZeoFill pulls any gases towards itself and hold it until sodium ion (Na ) in rain water releases the magnetivity and the force of heavy rainfall will flush out the bacteria, compelling it through the turf into the earth making your turf virtually new again. The sodium forces the calcium ions out and recharges the ZeoFill when dry. Nevertheless, ZeoFill will not remove bacteria that are poor. To remove poor bacteria, Global Syn-Turf, Inc. recommends nits very own Synthetic Grass Pet Odor Neutralizer, this enzyme products will not just neutralize the pet odor, but also remove poor bacteria and clean the turf, using this along with Zeofill will realize the best possible results on pet's odor control!

The ZeoFill granule will hold the ammonia water until it is cleaned out the ZeoFill with the enzyme solution or significant rainwater flushes. The ZeoFill granules will be trapped inside the turf system and contains a 5 year warranty on deterioration.

Benefits of Synthetic Grass

Grass lawns' notion being installed at a house' front and back yards originated from England where the weather is quite accommodating to grow and preserve natural grass. Here in particular states that are dry, such thought only won't fly! In cities located in desert regions for example Las Vegas, Nevada, Arizona and Phoenix, natural grass that is growing is extremely difficult. People are tired of plain and boring cement or rockery appearance and lots of desert scape notions will not meet most homeowners' desire for "green". Artificial grass supplies a perfect alternative in such situations. As an industry, artificial grass is not too new, it has existed for more than five decades. However, to the public, synthetic grass looks quite new. "What? Unreal grass? Seriously? Imitation? Don't scorn. Synthetic turf is moving beyond football fields and golf courses to be common in home landscapes. When Steve Wallace of Santa Monica, California went for synthetic lawn, he decided for long blades and a dark green color a look he couldnt achieve with his lawn before, which on hot summer days (one hundred degrees or more) turned to dust, and on rainy days turned into a mud pit. Tired of re-sodding two times a year not to mention the endless watering and mowing the 43-year-old homeowner was extremely happy to plunk down $5,000 to see installers peel away his old lawn. Now, he says, two little kids and his two dogs can romp and roll around without enduring the plastic rug burn of yore, or tearing up the turf. And maybe best of all is how grassy it looks.

"People have to go up close to it, he says, before they say, Wow, this isnt real.

Makers credit the new "you coulda fooled me" look to the marvels of science. Global Syn-Turf's Maronic, for one, tends to lapse into sports car speak when describing the "blend of aesthetics and functionality" offered by the firm's latest creation, a compact grass it calls Double W series, which contains such space age-seeming attributes as "Double W shaped blades" and "No-shine technology." The initial price on synthetic turf is higher than natural grass, but given the fact of most of synthetic grass will last at least from eight to ten years, such investment nonetheless makes sense for most homeowners, particularly those live in "desert cities".

Atlanta, Georgia News

December 10, 2018 2:25 AM - The Dan Quinn who stood before the media here Sunday wasn’t the DQ we’d come to know. He spoke quietly. He spoke slowly, which is a departure for a man who attacks every sentence as if it’s a sprint. He looked chastened, almost dazed. He used the word “disbelief” to describe this season. He used the word “identity” a half-dozen times, as if to suggest his Falcons are no longer the Falcons he’d created.

December 9, 2018 6:31 PM - It's an annual holiday tradition that kicks off at Thanksgiving and continues through New Year's: food guilt. Caught between the desire to enjoy holiday favorites and the fear of putting on extra pounds, people bond over the sharing of timeworn tips such as "eat before you go to a party" or "try to fill up on vegetables before you hit the rest of the buffet" - joyless cliches that really don't work. Then, on Jan. 2, they join a gym.

December 9, 2018 9:35 AM - Although most of the wintry weather predicted over the weekend has moved out, the possibility of ice and sleet remains. December 7, 2018 8:44 AM - Is it just me, or was 2018 a particularly outstanding year for Southern books? The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach. It isn’t a calamity to die with dreams unfulfilled, but it is a calamity not to dream.”

December 7, 2018 3:27 AM - While most of the winter weather predicted over the weekend will be confined to the northeast part of the state, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said she can’t rule out patches of sleet on the fringes of metro Atlanta beginning early Sunday.

December 7, 2018 3:00 AM - Georgia is what the South is becoming: a dynamic and evolving region. It is characterized by rapidly shifting racial and ethnic demographics, a population getting younger by the year, high migration rates both from the North and from countries south of our borders. Georgia is also home to some of the largest variations in income in the country. Many of these changes are what give Georgia character and allure. But these broad patterns also give rise to challenges across a wide range of areas, including health, education, economic development and transportation.

December 7, 2018 3:00 AM - We have become a nation obsessed with grand gestures, sweeping pronouncements and, alas, unimaginative solutions to intricate problems. In so many areas of public life, we prefer showmanship and bluster to reasoned, sober discourse. We have thus created a tremendous challenge, as we fail to model effective leadership to the next generation, convincing them, perhaps, that leadership should rely more upon histrionics and public flourishes than on their commitment, ingenuity, or intellect.

December 6, 2018 5:12 AM - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced this week that comedian Kevin Hart will host the 91st Oscars ceremony on Feb. 24 - so naturally his Twitter found itself under the microscope. November 8, 2018 9:04 AM - As Michelle Obama's highly anticipated memoir "Becoming" arrives, it's clear the former first lady is occupying a space in the culture beyond politics. Her approach is short of Winfrey's full-on confessional style but goes further than the guarded intimacy of Knowles-Carter's art and performances.

Opinion: Develop Gulch now to benefit citys futureOctober 26, 2018 10:00 AM - For 159 years, the Metro Atlanta Chamber has engaged in civic, community and economic initiatives to help improve the City of Atlanta and our broader region. We have been intimately involved in projects from the 1996 Olympics and Grady Hospital Task Force to increasing transit funding and changing our state flag – each one having significant long-term impact on our region. Today, our experience gives us a unique view into countless initiatives underway, a well-informed perspective on the business community’s role in each of them and an intense focus on efforts that can drive significant long-term benefits. The redevelopment of the Gulch is one such effort.

October 26, 2018 10:00 AM - Red Light/Green Light imagery has been adopted by proponents and opponents of redeveloping Atlanta’s Gulch. Makes sense, as stop or go is the question now before Atlanta city government as it weighs an ambitious project that would create a shiny new neighborhood where none now exists.

Cherokees SAT scores among highest in metro areaOctober 26, 2018 4:28 AM - As they did earlier this month with the ACT test, high school seniors in Cherokee County’s Class of 2018 performed strongly on the SAT exam – outscoring the previous class, exceeding national and state averages, and coming in near the top of metro Atlanta counties, district officials announced.

Opinion: It isnt race that makesa teacher the best role model, for students of any colorOctober 26, 2018 2:00 AM - A recent column by AJC colleague Gracie Bond Staples about Spelman College’s effort to increase the ranks of black school teachers got the attention of a veteran teacher whose thoughtful response follows. Zach Etheridge, a white man who taught at a majority-black high school in Clayton County 11 years, agrees it’s good for black youths to see people who look like them leading their classrooms. But effectiveness at teaching and value as a role model, he argues, go way beyond skin color.

Were having twins. How do we ensure our 4-year-old isnt left out?October 25, 2018 9:00 PM - Q: I am a mom of a 4-year-old son and am pregnant with twin girls. My husband and I are so excited, but I can’t help feeling guilty and overwhelmed when I think of my son. Once these twins arrive, we are really going to have our hands full, and I worry that I’m not going to have enough time with my son. We don’t have any family in the area, and our budget is tight enough that we can’t afford a nanny. How can we make sure our son doesn’t feel abandoned? People suggest that we include him in helping with the babies, but I worry that he’s going to just feel like we’re putting him to work, and that the new babies are the priority, which of course isn’t true. Help!

Hunter Killer so full of military stereotypes its almost parodyOctober 25, 2018 9:00 PM - Think of every military action movie cliche you can. The maverick hero who’s just an average guy. The uptight rule-following second-in-command who learns a good lesson. The token concerned woman who has one line. Enemies who aren’t so different after all. So many of these hackneyed stereotypes are thrown at the Gerard Butler-starring Navy thriller “Hunter Killer” that you have to wonder if this is the “Scary Movie” of submarine movies. Directed by Donovan Marsh, and with an army of action producers behind it, “Hunter Killer” is just this side of a parody. But there’s so much fun to be had with formula, and if you aren’t taking “Hunter Killer” all too seriously, the film is a hoot, even if that’s not exactly what the filmmakers were going for.

Beautiful Boy is powerful but not prettyOctober 25, 2018 9:00 PM - In “Beautiful Boy,” the national epidemic of substance abuse is told in intimate personal terms. Adapted from their joint memoirs, it offers a stomach-churning primer of addiction’s traumatic effects on individual and family lives. It is not a movie for the faint of heart, but one that will stick long in your mind.

The Generals reached the end zone twice in the second half but were unable to collect enough points to overtake the lead. Ward struck again in the second quarter with a 44-yard pass to Sophomore Jarius Mack before O’Brien Barnett punched one in from four yards out to continue the scoring spree. With one second left on the clock, Ward connected with Junior Jordan Hill on a 42-yard touchdown to take a commanding 27-0 lead at the half. The Gladiators continued to roll in the second half with two rushing touchdowns from Zyon Rushad and Tyrek Lumpkin, along with a defense score from Kevin Gresham and an end-of-game 48-yard score from Quay Teasley.

The game was moved up to the middle of the week to avoid the Nor’easter-bred wind and rain that’s been forecasted for Thursday and Friday.
