Not everyone likes the ideas of removing a lawn. California manicured look of the house is often associated with perfect, green, well-groomed, green grass. Children can't play in the middle of rocky-much Mediterranean type landscape. The question is â€" will the landscapes with water-efficient plants bring the value of a home up or down? It will limit your chances to sell your residence to families with children, and those are folks who in a need of a house.

There is no question, though, that the water problem must be appointed by all Californians rather we are ready for it, or not. And sometimes thinking out-of-the-box is an alternative most people don't bother to approach. But as a matter of fact, the only smart thing to do after accounting all odds of lawn conversion, wise homeowners pick an original solution. They install an artificial grass on their lawns. It answers three concerns at once:

1. It helps to conserve water.

2. It looks like a real lawn (nowadays, synthetic grass quality is so high you can hardly tell the difference between natural and artificial).

3. It is safer than a real lawn. First of all, it is lead-free. Secondly, with proper installation you get a quality of a professional NFA sports fields, which means the risk reduction of injuries.

For many years, big sports teams used the advantage of the artificial grass. To install a high-quality surface was expensive and un-affordable for a homeowner. We put the thought of an ugly astroturf with the high-price of professional options on the back of our heads. Today, in the water-drought conditions across California, we need to bring ourselves up to speed. Technologies changed. High-quality artificial turf became affordable. Synthetic grass installation brings the value of the property up.

As more and more homeowners in NorCal get their front- and back-yards renovated with Global Syn-Turf products, every time you drive on the streets of San Ramon, Dublin, or Pleasanton take a note of a perfectly manicured lawns. They are probably not real.

Water sprinkler, car in water, California water fines

Despite the dry winter, California State Water Resources Control Board and cities representatives support the state water regulators in Sacramento to fine residents up to $500 per water violation. Orginal water rules were set on a temporary basis during the California drought 2014-2017 by Gov. Jerry Brown. Now, according to the water conservation portal, it will, most likely, become a permanent Califonia law.

Despite the drought officially ended by Gov. Jerry Brown, Mediterranean climate in major parts of California remains the same. Water demands in warm, hot, dry summers and mild, moderately wet winters always exceed the water resources. A five-year drought raised concerns. It costs the state economy billions of dollars. It stressed forests and left more than 100 million dead trees behind. But the effects are far more deadly than anyone could imagine.

California doesn't look green anymore. In the historic state of drought, Californian lawns are now on the edge of extinction. Homeowners and communities are continuously looking for alternatives and the artificial grass looks more and more attractive.

The "Daily Show" host Jon Stewart has his own idea of how to solve the California Drought issue.

"First, as you know, California goes through historic unprecedented dry spell. " - says Jon Stewart at Thursday's Daily Show. "We are talking about original movie ideas. BOOM! Take that Jurassic world. Hey, what if they build another dinosaur theme park, but this time things also went horribly wrong."

As a drought becomes a major concern in California, the idea of replacing old lawns with artificial grass becomes more and more attractive to home and business owners. In the interview with Ken Wayne, Fox News, San Francisco, Jim Luthi, the homeowner of Newark, confessed he has bit the bullet and replace the sod with artificial turf: "Thirty something years of having droughts on and off.
