For the best results and longevity of your Global SynTurf artificial grass, ground preparation is crucial. The essential steps include:

Remove Existing Lawn: Dig up any existing grass or vegetation to a depth of about 3-4 inches.

Ensure Proper Drainage: Grade the area slightly to facilitate water runoff. Installing a drainage system may be necessary for areas with poor drainage.

Compact the Base: Lay down a crushed rock base, typically 3/4" minus crushed stone, and compact it to create a solid, level surface.

Install a Weed Barrier: Roll out a weed barrier fabric over the compacted base to prevent weed growth while allowing for proper drainage.

Lay the Turf: Roll out the Global SynTurf artificial grass over the prepared base. Cut to fit the area and secure the edges.

Infill Application: Spread the recommended type of infill evenly over the turf and brush it into the fibers to help the grass blades stand up and to add weight to the turf.

Following these steps will help ensure your Global SynTurf installation is successful and durable.

Our artificial grass can withstand weathers well: cold weather or snow will make turf harder/stiffer and can be slippery, but won’t hurt the grass itself. Heavy rains will help to clean the turf surface and present no harm to the turf either. Extreme hot weather can heat up the turf surface but typically won’t damage the turf unless the temperature goes up to more than 200 F degrees. We recommend to be very cautious to use turf in extreme weather conditions, or to avoid usage in such conditions: this is just like using roads in icy or snowy condition, surface itself is ok but cautions required when driving or waking on it. And it is very rare that people will engage activities on any outdoor surfaces during extreme weather anyway and we haven’t experienced any complaints regarding our artificial grass in extreme weather conditions. All our artificial turf products have excellent drainage capabilities, you can find the lab tests for drainage for each of our product by going to this page: https://www.globalsynturf.com/artificial-grass-specifications-specs. It is difficult to compare with natural grass on drainage as everyone’s natural grass can grow on different soil conditions. Turf installations require base preparations for best drainage and our products can take a category 5 hurricane’s downpour without any issues. Both Spring 50 and SBlade 60 will work for an indoor playground application, between these two products, we will recommend Sblade as it is densier. We will also recommend you to use lawn pads under the turf for extra cushion functions: https://www.globalsynturf.com/playgrounds-safety. For any further questions, please feel free to email us at [email protected], thank you.

It depends on the shape of your lot. If your lot is typical rectangular, you will need to measure the furthest length and width. Our turf comes in as 15’ wide and up to 100’ long, you will need to seam pieces together if your lot is bigger. The best approach to your question is for you to email us the diagram of your lot with dimensions at [email protected], our team will help you to figure out the game plan. Or please feel free to call us at 877 796 8873 for any further questions, thank you.

Not sure what you referring as “reflection”: window reflections of sun typically have much higher temperature than 140 F, such reflections can burn turf. If you are referring to reflections from other objects such as brick walls, the 140 F sounds close. Our turf can withhold 170 F without any problems. At between 170 and 200 F, the blades might start getting disformed, and turf will start getting melted at 200 F. If you have any further questions, please feel free to call us at 877 796 8873 or email us at [email protected], thank you.

There could be two reasons regarding your concern: we are not familiar with the particular infill you have used, however, the mesh of the infill might be a bit too big, we typically recommend to use #16 or #20 mesh infills. Secondly, for infill purpose, rake might not work well especially when the infill particles are big, a coarse push broom will work better, most of professional installers use power broom to get the job done. Please feel free to email us at [email protected] if you have any further questions, thank you.

Our artificial grass can be installed directly on the existing driveway by gluing down permanently. However, it might not be a good idea to simply install the turf strips with nothing else in between. The typical turf strips installations are always with pavers with turf blades are 1/2”-1” or so higher than the pavers’ surface once finished. By putting down the turf strips only, the edges will be exposed and have potential trip hazard. It would have a nice and complete look should you install the turf strips between pavers and installing pavers on a driveway should not be difficult. To find out more on how to install turf strips between pavers, please check out this YouTube video which is an installation on soil (more complicated and difficult than your installation) but at least you will get an idea: https://youtu.be/BeDPAXkYXlU. Cutting turf into a mat can be very easy. All you need is a sharp utility knife or carpet cutter. You will need to cut the back of the turf, trying to minimize cutting into the stitches even though you will have to. Artificial ivy can be installed/hung on any almost any surfaces for both indoors and outdoors, over fences is the most popular application for artificial ivy. Anchors should be used on wooden fences along with zip ties, for iron fences, most of the time, just zip ties will do the job. You will find this video helpful for installing artificial ivy over fence: https://youtu.be/02vc43qQRTc. For any further details or instructions, please feel free to call us at 877 796 8873 or email us at [email protected], thank you.
