Can artificial turf melt?  Yes it can because my turf melted from the reflection from an energy efficient window on my neighbors house.  The sun reflected off the window and down on the artificial turf in my side yard.  It started melting lines in my turf and I did not know what it was.  I had to get the artificial turf company to come out and tell me what was happening to my turf.  As I found out it is not covered under the warranty.  Apparently this is not the artificial turf's fault as this reflection could met anything that was plastic.  The artificial turf installer told me the neighbors could put awnings up so the sun does not reflect off the window.  Or the could put a window tint on the outside of the window that reduces the window glare.  I addressed this issue with my neighbor and showed them what was happening to my turf.  We both agreed to split the cost of tinting the three windows on the side of their house.  We had several different bids from window tint companies that seemed reasonable.  We went with the lowest bid and they did the install in one day.  I ended up having to pay to have the melted turf replaced and I learned a valuable lesson.  Please look for windows in your yard before you install artificial turf.  Other than that I really love my turf.
