I have the W blade 60, and I am less than 1 pound per sq ft with infill. The infill will not settle on.

There could be two reasons regarding your concern: we are not familiar with the particular infill you have used, however, the mesh of the infill might be a bit too big, we typically recommend to use #16 or #20 mesh infills. Secondly, for infill purpose, rake might not work well especially when the infill particles are big, a coarse push broom will work better, most of professional installers use power broom to get the job done. Please feel free to email us at [email protected] if you have any further questions, thank you.

My backyard Turf has wrinkles in it, hollow areas with turf on top of it. The seems are very noticeable. the turf was laid on the rock not granite. Also when I asked about infilled he said this turf has thatch already in it so you don't need infill.

It is difficult to tell without seeing the process and results of the installation. Turf installers might use different installation materials that available locally and alternate the process from our recommendations while still achieving the goals such as proper drainage. Infills are recommended for the purpose of helping to hold down the turf and minimize contractions and expansions. Your installer is correct that most of our turf are thick and fluffy enough to stand up well, though. Sometimes people skip using infills because of budget or for small areas. In any case, uneven surface seems more like an installation issue. For any further questions, please feel free to call us at 877 796 8873 or email us at [email protected], thank you.

15x19 is a rather small area, adding infills onto such small piece of turf can be easy: you can simply hold the infill bags and spread the infills onto the artificial grass surface, then using a push broom to brush the infills into the turf. Artificial grass has to be installed on a solid and smooth base: the turf is as good as the base. We always recommend to have about 4” of base build for artificial grass installations of which 2-1/2” of road base and 1-1/2” of decomposed granite. Such preparation will not only provide solid and smooth base but also guarantee the best drainage. For certain dry areas, the base building might be a bit different if the drainage is not a big concern. You can always call us at 877 796 8873 or email us at [email protected] if you have any further questions, thank you.

I just had an installer put 30-40 nails in the middle of my putting green, where I have a slope from a raised hole. And this was before he added the infill. I thought that the infill was to weigh the turf down to the base, so nails were not needed.

Sometimes installers will use nails in the putting green turf to stabilize the installation. However, the. Type of nails used has to be without heads (or pins) and once installed, people won’t notice them at all. Regular 40D or 60D will probably not work as the mail heads will be exposed. I hope your installer has used the correct nails that not visible on your green,  of course it will always be ideal to only have infills to hold the turf in place without using any nails. Absolutely, we actually strongly recommend to use carpet stretcher for artificial grass installations. The way and purpose of using a stretcher is the same as of using it for carpet installations. Which infill is safest for children? I've heard silica sand in artificial grass contains dust particles that, if inhaled over a long period of time, can lead to health problems. Is there a better alternative?

2021-01-19T02:03:05+00:00

All the infills on today’s market is relatively safe to use for artificial grass installation. The infills are meant to provide extra weight and hold the turf down better and help the blades to stand up. In most cases, if the infills are applied properly, it will sink all the way to the very bottom of the turf, you will not be able to see or get contact with it unless you spread open the fibers and put your fingers into the turf. However, to be 100% safe, we will recommend the wonderfill product which is sands coated with antimicrobial agent to prevent bacteria and germs and is extremely safe for your kids. Here is the link for the details of wonderfill: https://www.globalsynturf.com/products/wonder-fill. You always want to use the smallest meshed infills on artificial putting greens. Our putting greens were tufted very tightly and leaves very minimal room for infills to go in, you will have an extremely hard time to brush bigger grain infills into it. We would recommend to use either #30 or #60 mesh infills for all our putting greens. Our gopher wire will definitely work for wild rabbits once installed under the artificial grass. Any animals that can dig underground and potentially damage the foundations of turf base will be prevented by using gopher wires. However, it won’t do anything to animals that don’t dig such as squirrels.
