I noticed that different installations of turf use different types of sands? What are the differences between these sands? Does it matter which one you use for residential purposes?

In general, there are four unique functions of infills for artificial grass even though all of them share a common purpose of holding artificial turf in place to minimize the contractions and expansions and helping grass blades standing up better. Regular kiln dried silica sands serve the purpose of the common point above, and it is the least expensive option. Here are the four unique functions for different type of infills of artificial grass:

1. Green colored infills which are silica sands coated with green color to blend in well with the grass.

2. Pet neutralizing infills, namely zeolite which help to neutralize dog urine smells.

3. Hygienic infills, or antimicrobial green colored sands coated with antimicrobial agent, such infills provide a clean and antibacterial solution for your artificial grass.

4. Heat reducing infills, namely TCool, such infills are sands coated with special cooling agent to keep your artificial grass cool during a hot day.
