Faceweight is one of the most important specs foe artificial turf. Measured as ounces per square yard, the higher the faceweight, the heavier of the grass and more of materials used. The term faceweight is from the carpet industry which have been widely used for many years. If you would like heavier and higher density turf, you will choose high faceweight. If you need further help on this topic, please feel free to call us at 877 796 8873 or email us at [email protected], thank you.

We recommend to use an average of 2 lbs per square foot of infills for your artificial putting greens: the infills can be regular sands or green colored sands, but the mesh size has to be at least #30 or smaller. Most of infills are available at 50 lbs per bag, so for a size of 315 sf, you will need about 12-13 bags of infills. The density can be one of the factors for artificial grass product quality. In the turf industry, we typically use “faceweight” instead of “density” to refer amount of materials used, the higher the faceweight, the more of materials used ant therefore the price is normally higher. All our turf products have clear faceweight and total weight information on the specification sheet, please visit this link foe details: https://www.globalsynturf.com/artificial-grass-specifications-specs. There are two scenarios need to be considered of using artificial grass for music festivals: cost and frequency. Some of the festivals can be one time only, and the turf will be removed and thrown away after the events, the cheaper the better for such applications. There are music festivals occurring on a regular basis and turf can be reused after each event, for such projects, I will recommend something durable and mid-range price level. Not really. Being made of plastic resins, the artificial grass products can have static, however, it has never been a concern or issue just like many other products on the market. We do have the technology to make artificial turf with static free, such products are not readily available, by special order only. Artificial grass fibers have “memories” which makes it difficult to bring them up after years of consistent traffic or pressing. To avoid such flattened turf issues, the heavy traffic area grass needs to be attended (such as using a push broom or garden rake of power broom) when turf fibers starting to flat down. However, in your case, the flattening already happened, you can try a few things (repeating several times):

1. Brush the turf fibers to the opposite direction of its standing up, then put a piece of wood board over it and leave it for couple of days.

2. Use power broom or push broom to push the fibers to the correct direction, then add more infills.

3. Use power washer to force the fibers to face the right direction.

All above tries should be done in a relatively warm day with plenty of sun which will make the fibers soft and easy to work with you. Again, you will need to repeat these several times and the results will vary depending on how stubborn the fibers’ “memory” is.
