There are two type of nails used for artificial grass installations: regular steel nail (installation nails) or galvanized nails, and both nails are recommended by us even though there are some pros and cons for each. I had a previous posting to explain the differences of nails and nail sizes, please check it out at: https://www.globalsynturf.com/should-i-use-4-inch-or-6-inch-nails-for-installation. Sorry that we don’t sell power tools. For your application that to make a hole on the artificial grass, you don’t need a power drill, all you should do is to use a carpet knife or utility knife to cut through the turf, do not cut a piece out, simply cut a short line between the stitch rolls (so you are not cutting any blades/fibers), the cut line are only on the backing, then you will be able to stick the spikes through the turf. It depends on the size of your area and application. If you are installing the artificial grass in a room, you can do the installation the same way as carpet: no need to use glue or nails, simply floating the turf and tuck the edges, or use pin nails as needed (not the long nails people used for outdoor installations), and you can always put paddings underneath the turf for extra cushioning. If you are installing the artificial grass as an indoor sport field or similar with at a large scale, I will recommend you to use turf glue for the best results. We offer free consultations on artificial grass products and installations, please call or email us at [email protected] for any further questions.

If you are installing the artificial grass permanently on your patio, the best way to go is gluing it down. The drawback is that glues will leave residues and marks on your patio concrete when you remove the turf. If you are not looking for a permanent installation, I will recommend you to use heavy duty double sided carpet tape: the tape might work out ok if you have a small area, but again, I am not sure about how long these tapes will last.
