Turf around a pool

Sacramento California
Ivan Zaya

I just had artificial turf installed around my pool using a Global Syn Turf certified dealer in Sacramento.  I was looking for an artificial turf that would not be a hazard.  I wanted something that drains very well, does not fade with chlorine and is not slippery around my pool.  Global Syn Turf artificial grass is aesthetically pleasing, durable and safe, drains well and has just about no maintenance.  Call Global Syn Turf today to see a dealer near you and receive artificial turf samples that are right for you.

Will chlorine from pool damage or bleach grass

No, chlorine won’t damage artificial grass. However you need be aware that chemical and water residues can stick onto grass fibers and create calcium buildups and after certain time period, the turf might start looking whitish: the reality is that nothing wrong with the artificial grass but chlorine residues and water calciums got built up on the grass fibers. When such issues occur, you can use calcium cleaners to rub off these buildups.

Can grass be installed retro actively to cement driveswat

Our artificial grass can be installed directly on the existing driveway by gluing down permanently. However, it might not be a good idea to simply install the turf strips with nothing else in between. The typical turf strips installations are always with pavers with turf blades are 1/2”-1” or so higher than the pavers’ surface once finished. By putting down the turf strips only, the edges will be exposed and have potential trip hazard. It would have a nice and complete look should you install the turf strips between pavers and installing pavers on a driveway should not be difficult. To find out more on how to install turf strips between pavers, please check out this YouTube video which is an installation on soil (more complicated and difficult than your installation) but at least you will get an idea: https://youtu.be/BeDPAXkYXlU. Is artificial grass slippery when wet?

Like anything else, artificial grass will get more slippery when wet, similar to the road we are driving on every day, but not terribly unusable though. You will find the water drain through the grass very quickly and the residues on the blades will dissipate fairly quick as well once the rain is gone. In any cases, you will need to be careful on wet surfaces.

Can artificial grass be used on walls?

Yes, you can use artificial grass for a wall design, they actually look really good! It will depend on what kind of walls that you would like to put artificial turf onto, the installation method can be different. First of all, I will recommend you to use lighter turf if the wall is high so you don't have much of weight to it, also since people will look into the turf directly, I don't think you want to have turf with brown thatch in it, you should use "all green" turf which means artificial grass with green thatch. As far as installation goes, if you are installing the turf on a concrete or stone type of wall, you will need to anchor or drill anchor bases in such walls and then use strong zip ties, along at the edges, you can use heavy duty double sided tapes to provide a secure mount. If you are installing the turf on a wooden wall, things can be easier, you can use industrial grade staples to affix the turf, also I will always recommend to use heavy duty double sided tape along the edges.
