Staples are optional or at installers’ choice when it comes to artificial grass installations. The most commonly used of staples for turf installations is the seaming part: staples’ two legs are on each piece of the turf to hold both pieces together well. However, such seaming methods can also be accomplished by using nails on each piece of the turf as well. When staples are being used, the flat head will clamp certain fibers down, so you won’t want to drive it into the base too much as plying the fibers is required before you secure the staples permanently, this could be one of the reasons for certain installers for not using staples as extra work of ensuring fibers not being clamped down by the staple heads.
