Does exactly what I needed it to do

Sakonnet Rhode Island
Cassidy

We have a puppy. Live in an area, with hawks and owls. Of grass we have rocks so I needed to create a spot for him to do his business when we're outside. I purchased a 14 foot enclosure to cover the area. Whenever we went out I would place him inside to go. He has now learned to use the artificial for this purpose. Its been working out well. Cleaning it is easy with a hose. When we're playing in the backyard he still prefers using that patch of grass. We no longer require the enclosure. He continues using the grass patch without any issues. Its been great, for keeping our backyard clean. The artificial grass has held up well without any odors. Sometimes he even brings something from the yard to chew on while lying on it. This solution was what I needed. Has fully lived up to my expectations.

Is infill needed for soccer field turf or will it just get in the way?

As of today’s turf world, artificial grass used for outdoor sport fields mostly require infills which a combination of sand and cushioning particles to not only hold the turf in place, but more importantly provide sufficient GMAX fall ratings so people play sports on such artificial grass surfaces won’t get hurt when they fall. Technically, if the infills are not preferred by the end user, we can use cushioning pads under the turf to provide the same fall rating, however, such application can be much more costly. For indoor sport fields, the cushioning pads have been used more especially for smaller sized facilities. Can you cut or trim your artificial grass if needed?

Yes, you can cut or trim your artificial grass by using either a carpet knife or scissors when needed. When we make artificial turf products, we use a technology called "variable height cut" to make the surface of the grass less even, by doing so, the finished products will look much more realistic and close to the real lawn in overall appearance. At installation, carpet knives and scissors are necessary tools for professional installers, from time to time, they will need to cut and trim off grass. I don't see any possibilities of doing cut or trim on grass at a large scale, rather than cutting or trimming a few fibers if needed.

Can artificial grass be installed on different types of surfaces, and what preparation is needed?

Yes, artificial grass can be installed on various surfaces, including soil, concrete, decking, and even rooftops. However, each surface requires specific preparation to ensure a smooth and durable installation. For soil installations, the area needs to be excavated, and a base of crushed stone or sand should be laid down to ensure proper drainage and a stable foundation. On hard surfaces like concrete or decking, a shock-absorbing layer may be added for comfort and to allow water to drain properly. Proper surface preparation is crucial for preventing issues like unevenness, poor drainage, or premature wear, ensuring a long-lasting and beautiful installation.

Do you think it's necessary to get gopher wire for a 15x13 cut?

You only need to use the gopher wires if you have gopher issues, otherwise, it is not necessarily. However, the gopher wires are only sold by rolls, not cut sizes. The common sized roll of gopher wires is 4’x100’, you can see the details of this product at this link: https://www.globalsynturf.com/products/gopher-wire

Are nails used?

Sometimes installers will use nails in the putting green turf to stabilize the installation. However, the. Type of nails used has to be without heads (or pins) and once installed, people won’t notice them at all. Regular 40D or 60D will probably not work as the mail heads will be exposed. I hope your installer has used the correct nails that not visible on your green,  of course it will always be ideal to only have infills to hold the turf in place without using any nails.
