Read Answer: What makes an artificial putting green "high quality"?
It is very hard to tell the quality of the backing of artificial grass by just visualizing or feeling it. Typically there are two parts of backing for most of the turf products on the market today: primary backing and secondary backing. The primary backing is the Polypropylene fabric that turf fibers to be tufted onto; the secondary backing is the glue to hold the fibers in place. The only one determination people can make by just looking at the turf is how many layers of the primary backing the artificial grass has, for an example all our products have two layers of primary backing which represent higher quality compared with some single layer backing products by other companies. It is almost impossible to tell any differences on other aspects of a turf backing system without technical testing such as tuft bind, grab, thickness of polypropylene fabrics and etc., you can find all these technical testing information on our website at this link: https://www.globalsynturf.com/artificial-grass-specifications-specs. Artificial grass used to be a by-product of carpet before it became its own industry 10 years ago. By that said, a lot of specifications are the same as carpet. The main factors from the artificial grass manufacturer’s standpoint for qualities are the density of the yarns and thickness (translated into faceweight) of the turf. In plain explanations: the heavier of the face weight and thicker of the yarns, the better of the quality of the artificial grass. This is more of in general terms. The reality is that certain products have more advanced technologies associated with it or with special designs, ingredients and manufacturing process which can also be part of product quality matrix determinations. Yes we do offer colored turf for sport field. However, since most of the sport fields are custom designed, we normally will have to produce the turf per order instead of having them in stock. We are not sure what do you mean by colored liquid, if you are referring to drinks or soda, they won’t present any problems on artificial grass, you might just need to rinse cleaning the spills with a garden hose. It is never a good idea to spill the paint onto the turf, even though technically the paint won’t stain the turf, but it will be almost impossible to clean off the paint from the turf surfaces. The stitch count for artificial grass is a combination of tufting gauges and stitch rates, it is often referred the total stitches per square meter or square yard. In order to claim a "high stitch count", the artificial grass needs to have very tight tufting gauge and high stitch rates. The tufting gauge is the distance between two tufting lines, which ranges from 3/16" to 3/4", the narrower the gauge, the tighter of the grass; the stitch rates is the amount of turf stitches per 4" or 10 mm.
