You can find our installation guide at this link which covers on how to build the sub base in detail: https://www.globalsynturf.com/installation-guides. After you excavated the soil, you will need to have some drain rock at about 2” or 2-1/2” thickness, compact it at 90%, then used about 1-1/2” decomposed granite on top of the drain rock and also compacted to 90%, at this point, your sub base surface should be solid and smooth enough to lay turf on top of it. Generally speaking, artificial grass is fairly easy to install. However, depend on the size of your area, I will always recommend to have a professional installer to do the installation for you so things won’t go wrong. If you let installation doesn’t involve any seaming and you are able to excavate and handle bulk materials such drain rock and decomposed granite, you might be able to give it a try. We use punched holes on our artificial grass drainage system: such system has proved to be one of the most effective draining techniques for the past. It is a very simple theory, for specialty artificial grass such as pet turf, more drainage holes to be punched. A lot of turf companies on today’s market are using drainage as marketing tools rather than focusing on the true performances in real world. Artificial grass’ drainage capacity largely depends on its base: without a good and professionally built sub base, any artificial grass won’t be draining well, water or liquid will go through the grass but won’t dissipate away if the sub base is not permeable. On average, our artificial grass can drain 50-60 inches per hour which equals five times the amount of water dumped by a category 5 hurricane! Extremely sufficient and effective. You can find our permeability report on every artificial grass product on the following link , once one this page, click on the product, you will see all the testing reports shown: https://www.globalsynturf.com/artificial-grass-specifications-specs

it will hold still if there is no dramatic movements on it. But if you are talking about having significant sideway movements or actions on the artificial grass, I don't think the turf will hold still as you would like it to. By looking at the back of our products, you will see it is pretty rough, and frictions are there when you lay it onto a smooth surface, for an example, if you use it as a door mat, it will work just fine. Without knowing the details of your project, it is difficult to give you specific suggestions. Technically you can use artificial grass for kitty litter, the product won't hurt and not harmful, but I doubt it will work well for your cat. It is very natural for dogs to do their business on grassy surface, it might not true for cats, I personally think the traditional kitty litter will work better, this is just my own opinion.
