Sturdy Nails for Long-Term Hold

Hannchen California
Katie

These nails were exactly what we needed for a secure install. They go in clean, hold tight, and don’t bend easily like some cheaper ones we tried before. We’ve had zero shifting or lifting even after heavy rain and foot traffic.

Are nails used?

Sometimes installers will use nails in the putting green turf to stabilize the installation. However, the. Type of nails used has to be without heads (or pins) and once installed, people won’t notice them at all. Regular 40D or 60D will probably not work as the mail heads will be exposed. I hope your installer has used the correct nails that not visible on your green,  of course it will always be ideal to only have infills to hold the turf in place without using any nails. How many nails do I need for artificial grass?

We only recommend to use nails along the edges of artificial lawns at the installation, so you don't need to calculate on how many nails to be used by the areas, rather you need to measure up the perimeters of your lawn and make sure to have nails every 4-6" going along the entire edges. For an example, if you have 300 ft of edges, you will need roughly 900 pieces of nails (300 ft x 12/4). The nails come in as 50 lb. boxes, and each box has about 500 pieces of nails in it. Does the Trainers turf require additional installation materials?

I don’t think you will need any additional materials for our Trainers Turf installations.  Just follow the same procedures of normal artificial grass installations, you will be fine. To answer your question about holding the turf in place: First, you will need to make sure having the parameters of the turf to be secured with nails, every 4-6” apart for nailing schedule; Secondly, you will need to add at least 2 lbs of infills per square foot throughout the turf surface, you might need a bit more if you are using the turf for sport applications: the more the better. Trainers turf is a short blade product which is not necessarily with professionally required GMax ratings with regular infills, so you might want to add paddings underneath the turf to provide sufficient cushions and achieve the fall rating requirements. If you have a designer or architect for your project, he or she should have all these specs and requirements spelled out for the project, and you can always feel free to send such information directly to us at [email protected] so we can better assist you, or please just fill out this online form to get connected with one of our experts: https://www.globalsynturf.com/free-quote

What is the difference between nails and glue for installation?

The usage of nails and glues are different for artificial grass installations, you will need both to get the proper job done, not necessarily one is better than the other. In general, you will need to nails to secure the perimeters of your artificial turf, and also to be used along with seaming tape and glue to secure the joints of two pieces together. The turf glues are mainly used to bond the artificial grass seams together.
