There is a big difference between woven back and regular back: The woven back is actually just the grass fibers knitted together, then apply glue coating on them to hold fibers in place; regular artificial grass backing is layers of Polypropylene cloth on which fibers being tufted, then glue coating to be applied on. So Technically they are two totally differently types of production procedures: Knitted vs Tufted, normal people only see the differences on the backing part and not knowing the two products are actually made differently. Knitting is an old way of making carpet, the production rate is super low, as far as I am aware of that the machines are using to make artificial grass on today’s market are at least 30 years old which is the main reason the pricing for such products is really high, not necessarily a better products but just time consuming to make them. Knitted artificial grass has full permeability which is the only selling point for such product, however in reality, tufted artificial grass can drain just as well. Tufting is the new technology to make artificial grass and productions can be way faster and efficient than knitting, and tufting is the trend of today’s industry.

The products used for the artificial grass tile can be same or similar to that of broadloom turf. Companies are buying the artificial grass in big rolls and cut them in pieces and affixing them on a rubber or foam tiles to make the artificial grass tiles: the concept is very similar to that of portable court tiles with the main advantage of being portable and ease of install and uninstall. However, not like the regular sport court tiles, the appearance of artificial grass tiles once connected all together might not be ideal: the connected seams are very noticeable. For people don’t mind if seeing all the seams the tiles can be a good choice. However, the reality is that most people getting artificial grass would prefer a natural lawn or sport field look, with big rolls of artificial grass, seams will be very minimal and not noticeable at all if installed correctly. We offer artificial grass tiles as well but with custom orders only and with minimum quantity requirements, such offering is for business only, more of custom manufacturering approach.

Not sure what you referring as “reflection”: window reflections of sun typically have much higher temperature than 140 F, such reflections can burn turf. If you are referring to reflections from other objects such as brick walls, the 140 F sounds close. Our turf can withhold 170 F without any problems. At between 170 and 200 F, the blades might start getting disformed, and turf will start getting melted at 200 F. Most of artificial grass on today’s market are made of polyethylene and polypropylene resins which essentially are plastic products. Just like any other plastic products, artificial grass will melt given enough heat which can come from various sources such as sunlight reflections and etc.. on average, the melting point of artificial grass is at between 190-210 degrees F.
