When it comes to the question of "holding up to the heat", there are two terminologies associated with it: dis-forming point and melting point. Everyone in artificial grass industry is using the "melting point" as the main reference to holding up to heat.

This is a tough question. In general, extremely hot weather and sunlight should not burn the turf if not exceed 190 F: we all know that certain areas can be as hot as 120 F during the hot summer months, when the air temperature gets to the 120 F range, the ground temperature will reach 180-190 degrees which can be dangerously close to the point of melting artificial grass. You might have seen the story that the extreme heat even melted garbage cans in Arizona couple of years ago. Therefore, we have to answer your question in a specific term of temperatures instead of using general terms of “extremely heat” or “hot sunlight”.

Artificial grass is made of PE (polyethylene) and PP (polypropylene) and considered to be plastic products, therefore, they won’t dry up in the heat as there is no moisture contents in the turf fibers. However, the turf will get warm and soft in the heat just as any plastic products. For any further questions, please call us at 877 796 8873 or email us at [email protected], thank you.
