I run a small daycare from home and needed something that could handle a lot of daily foot traffic without getting worn down. Double W-85 was recommended for its dense build and strong backing, and I’m thrilled with the results. The turf has a soft, realistic texture but is sturdy enough to hold up against running kids, toy trucks, and the occasional spilled juice box.
It’s been in place for nearly a year and still looks like it was installed last week. The color mix makes it look very natural-none of that obviously fake neon green look. Cleanup is easy, and I don’t have to worry about muddy shoes anymore.
Even after heavy Florida rain, it drains quickly and is ready for play again in no time. The kids love it, the parents love it, and I love how much time and money it’s saved me. I wouldn’t use any other turf for an active space like this.
The cost of installing a new natural lawn includes soil preparation. Before seeding, some basic pH testing must be done, and the results are mitigated by adding limestone mixes to make the soil less acidic, or sulfate and sulfur to decrease Ph (increase acidity.) You can buy topsoil in HomeDepot, Lowes, or any home improvement store nearby. They sell them in bags by cubic feet. In most cases, you need to add 2 inches of topsoil and mix it with the tilled down sod beneath. How to calculate how many bags of topsoil you need?

Well, this is a difficult question. All artificial grass will eventually flattened given heavy and consistent traffic, especially there’s no “breaks” between the traffics in which situation, there is no chance given for the turf to spring back up. I will recommend short diamond shaped blade turf for such applications: diamond shaped turf are typically softer and easier to lay down, but at least it will be more consistent in when they stand up or lay out in a uniformed fashion. Some of the other more stiff blades designs have much better resiliencies which handles heavy traffic well when there are breaks between traffics which allow the turf to spring back up especially such breaks given in a warm weather. Most of our artificial grass can handle normal “heavy traffics” very well, and they all have good resiliences to tend to stand back up. We assume most of the applications will be “normal”, only in rare situations, heavy consistent traffics will flatten the turf down fast and hard to brush them back up: this is very similar as placing something heavy on a carpet, a pressing mark will present, consistent heavy traffic without stop will make it difficult for the turf to keep standing up regardless which type you choose. Again, in such cases, short and softer products will be my recommendation. You will need to pay attention on each of our product’s specifications which you can find at this link: https://www.globalsynturf.com/artificial-grass-specifications-specs. Under each product’s specifications, you will see the recommended usage of traffic from low to high. In general (not necessarily 100%), the higher of the faceweight, the better of the turf will handle the foot traffic, this is very similar to the carpet products as well. If on an average you spend more than 2 hours daily on the artificial grass, we consider it as high traffic. Artificial lawns, like real grass lawns, are not walked on as frequent or long as you would think, especially for residential applications. Front yard in particular gets much less traffic, back yards and pet areas will have much more usage. Again, my analysis are good for most cases, however, if your project is any different, please feel free to give us call at 877 796 8873 or email us at [email protected], thank you.

It will be very hard to tell without knowing the details. Critical numbers such as average daily hours of traffic, weather conditions, sunshine time, type of traffic are needed to make analysis and determinations of how long the artificial grass will last: if the turf is designed to last 20 years with an average of daily 2 hours traffics, theoretically it will last much less if twice traffic is given on the daily basis. So it will be helpful if you can let us know some detail data about the usage, weather conditions and traffic so we can provide more accurate feedback and make proper artificial grass recommendations. Technically, our artificial grass will last at least 15 years as our warranty covers under normal usage and weather conditions. In reality, applications such as you have described, your grass will last much longer if it is not exposed to hostile weather. You can find all the details regarding our warranty coverage on artificial grass products from our website: https://www.globalsynturf.com/artificial-grass-specifications-specs.
