Stitch Rate is the number of stitches per inch in the length of synthetic turf. For example, the stitch rate of 14/10, means there are 14 stitches in 10cm.

111
I looked the back of the turf, seems like the heavier turf has smaller stitch knots.
I really don't care about this, as long as the turf looks good, but it is good to know though.
Might be too technical for me to understand, but i don't care.
Intersting.

Larger gauge v stitch rate

The key spec is the faceweight regarding your concern: our turf is manufactured on different machines, more specifically in 3/8”, or 1/2” or 5/8” gauges, in order to achieve the same faceweight, grass made on 1/2” gauge machine will have higher stitch rate, in another word, more stitches per 4 inch than 3/8” gauge. The yarn used for the same turf product is always the same but can be different dyelots. Your sample should be the same as your product in term of faceweight and look very similar in color: again, different dyelots between the sample and product can provide some very minor shade and color variations. Sometimes, the sample pieces might have been touched and felt a lot under indoor temperatures, when bring it outside placing next to the freshly installed turf in colder weather, the hand feel on the sample might be softer. If you leave the sample on the turf during a warm day, the hand feel on both should be very close. Which artificial grass has the highest stitch rate?

So all of our 90 oz or above turf products, the stitch rate is at or over 20. To learn more about the stitch rate on each individual turf product, you can visit this link, click on the product name, a specification page will show with stitch rate data on it: https://www.globalsynturf.com/artificial-grass-specifications-specs

Does your artificial grass offer a high stitch count?

The stitch count for artificial grass is a combination of tufting gauges and stitch rates, it is often referred the total stitches per square meter or square yard. In order to claim a "high stitch count", the artificial grass needs to have very tight tufting gauge and high stitch rates. The tufting gauge is the distance between two tufting lines, which ranges from 3/16" to 3/4", the narrower the gauge, the tighter of the grass; the stitch rates is the amount of turf stitches per 4" or 10 mm.

What does the stitch count tell me about artificial grass?

The stitch counts for artificial grass is a technical term which measures how many stitches of fibers per square meter: such term only apply for turf that made by using tufting machines. The more of the stitch counts of an artificial grass, the thicker is the product, meaning more fibers. The stitch count is determined by the gauge and stitch rates of the grass: the gauge the distance between the two rolls of stitching lines next to each other, very common gauges are 3/16”, 1/4”, 3/8”, 1/2”, 5/8” and 3/4”; the stitch rate is how many stitches per 4”, normally starting at 10 go all the way to 20 on regular grass and to 40 for artificial putting greens. So the higher of the stitch count, the closer the fibers which make the artificial fuller, thicker (or more dense). While it not necessarily more expensive for higher stitch count products if the fiber being short. In another word, the combination of higher stitch count and taller fibers will definitely be using more materials and slower to make which certainly make such product more expensive.

Is a higher stitch count good or bad for a soccer field?

The stitch counts of artificial grass for soccer fields have minimal impact as far as functionality and performance go. It is more of technical specification indicating how many stitches in a per square yard area. Different soccer field might have different specification request, a sport field with artificial grass is a “system”, not just about turf. The underpayment, the infill requirement, the GMax factor and play ability are all part of bigger picture. Sometimes, the higher stitch counts will make the turf field too “tight” to infill and fail to achieve certain GMax value, therefore, it is not necessarily true that the higher the stitch count the “better”. A proper stitch count that balance the entire turf system is what designers and architects looking for.
