To simply answer your question:
The tuft bind for S Blade-90: averaged at 40-45 newton or 9-10 pound-force.
You will be able to find the water permeability test on the spec sheet link above. The testing data is 88 inches per hour.
This is a good question. Our artificial grass products are all designed to drain exceptionally well. The permeability of our turf is ranging from 50 inches per hour to more than 100 inches per hour. You will be able to find the permeability testings on each of our product at this link: https://www.globalsynturf.com/artificial-grass-specifications-specs
Simply click on the product on this page, and you will see a drop-down menu with all of the testing data, and click on Water Permeability Test.
Now, what is the meaning of how many inches per hour? To visualize this inches per hour term, let's take a hurricane storm as an example. In 2005, we suffered by one of the most devastated Hurricane Katrina in US history. In the most affected areas, the rainfall was totaled at 7.8 inches within 48 hours. Now let's compare, the minimum drain capacity of our turf is 50 inches per hour so regardless of how much rain you get, our turf will drain just fine, never a concern of flooding or water lake build up. However, drainage has a lot to do with the base, in rain areas, your installer has to make sure to prepare the turf base per our manufacturer's recommendations in order to achieve the best permeability. Here is how: https://www.globalsynturf.com/installation/
![]() | Greg Cooper So it is all about the base.... |
![]() | Matthew Turner The answer makes a lot of sense. |
![]() | Greg Weitz - Regional Sales V. P. I will pay more attention on how the base being prepared than the turf as far as drainage concerns. |
![]() | Donna Collins I haven't seen any of turf with water puddles on them. |
![]() | Sarah Cruz Very helpful to understand the drainage of turf. |
![]() | Linda Evans Great information! |
The first product I recommend is our High Sierra, you can find the details at this link:https://www.globalsynturf.com/high-sierra. This is a product with color very close to St. Augustine grass, with very tall fibers and super fluffy.
If you prefer shorter and less dense products, our two other Sierra Series products also come in with similar colors: Sierra Super-94 and Sierra Pro-70. Both of these products are not necessarily with short blades, but just being shorter than the High Sierra. You won't go wrong with anyone of these. Here are the links: https://www.globalsynturf.com/products/mt-sierra-super-94
https://www.globalsynturf.com/products/mt-sierra-super-94
My second recommendation will be our Riviera Monterey Series. We have three different configurations on this series, from less expensive to higher-priced: Riviera Monterey 50, 65 and 84. Here are the links to all three products: https://www.globalsynturf.com/products/riviera-monterey-50
https://www.globalsynturf.com/products/riviera-monterey-65
https://www.globalsynturf.com/products/riviera-monterey-84
Color wise, in my opinion, the Sierra Series is closer. Please feel free to fill out our online form so we can make arrangement to get samples to you.
![]() | I have the Sierra series and it's definitely close to the real thing! |
![]() | Sierra series for the win! I have it. |
![]() | Our Sierra series turf should be spot on. |
![]() | One of our discontinued series called "spring" also with the color similar to St. Augustine, we currently only have one product of the series available. |
![]() | Sierra series will be spot on with St Augustine. |

Thanks for asking this question! The answer is Yes, there is a rebate of $3.00 per sf if you live in Las Vegas, NV. 60% of a household's water bill goes to watering natural grass lawns. A lot of states on the west that has water supply concerns have incentives to replace grass with drought tolerated alternatives, and artificial turf is the perfect answer to that: you won't lose the beautiful "Lawn" look, and still get the rebate of $3.00 per square foot, up to 10,000 sf! This is the most generous rebate offer in the country and they normally set a budget for such rebates until used up before re-evaluating the program again, so hurry up to take advantage of this asap!
To help people in other major markets for artificial turf, please find the following summary and links:
Las Vegas, NV: Upgrade existing grass to water-smart landscaping and receive $3 per square foot of grass converted to xeriscape.
https://www.lvvwd.com/conservation/rebates/index.html
California: Up to $2 per square foot of removed and replaced turf will be rebated per eligible household.
http://www.saveourwaterrebates.com/turf-replacement-rebates.html
Arizona: $200 per 1000 sq. ft. to convert non-residential turf to low water use landscape up to a maximum of $3000
http://waterawarenessmonth.com/rebates.php
![]() | The rebate on artificial grass in Arizona is rather small compared with California and Nevada. |
![]() | California has always consistently offering rebates for all water saving measures, sometimes they have the money, sometimes they run out of funds, but always check with the local water districts will be a good idea. |
![]() | Very helpful information. |
![]() | Certain cities in Texas offer rebates, such as Austin. |
![]() | States on the east coast normally don't have such generous rebates. |
![]() | I got my $2.00 per sf rebate from California water, I live in Los Angeles area! |
![]() | Information is helpful. |
![]() | I am glad I found this thread. |
![]() | I got my grass replaced and $2.00 per sf rebate and I live in San Francisco east bay. |
![]() | We can help with our customers to search more of such rebate programs, please just feel free to contact us by phone or email. |

It is a very question. Most of the real natural grass' face weight is right about 60 oz., hopefully this can help you to make up your mind: All of Global Syn-Turf's products ranging from 50 oz to 90 oz. resembles the natural grass look very well, one advantage of having higher face weight is that the grass will standing up better and technically last longer.
![]() | I have the 94 oz product and I am very happy with it. |
![]() | The two key factors determine the face weight are the pile height and stitches. |
![]() | I got 70 oz turf in my yard: realistic! |
![]() | I compared their 50 oz turf with 60 or 70 oz, to me, they are close enough for normal people to tell the difference. |
![]() | Between 60 and 70 oz |
![]() | I think the general rule is the lighter the face weight, the cheaper and the heavier turf will cost more. |
![]() | I have S Blade-90. It looks very real. Ask my neighbors. |
![]() | Now I see. |
![]() | Really good to know this! |
Yes, you can! It is very common that weeds grow at the outer edge of synthetic grass, the interesting fact is that many people leave those small weeds alone, as such weeds make the entire artificial lawn look more realistic!
![]() | Yes, roundup can be used to kill the weed, but you want to be careful and make sure to wear mask when applying roundup as the chemical might be harmful to you. |
![]() | I have been using roundups, no issues so far. But I don't think I will keep using it as the roundups itself can be harmful to people. |
![]() | I simply pull them out instead of using any chemicals. |
![]() | I use Roundup on weed on my turf. |
![]() | I used Roundup on my W Blade 80 turf. |
![]() | Yes, people use Round up on artificial grass all the time. |
![]() | I use it all the time! |
![]() | Way to go. |
![]() | Agree! |
![]() | Useful information. |
Artificial grass engineered blades are the invention of Global Syn-Turf! We are the first manufacturer to bring engineered blades into the market: That is why we have named a lot of our products with the names of the blades, such as S Blade, U blade, W Blade and etc.
Instead of having the artificial grass blades flat, we have made them into different shapes, to name a few as "S", "W", "U", double "W", double "S", "Hollow" and etc., once blades being made with different shapes, we call them "Engineered".
What are the benefits of engineered blades?
1. Engineered blades reflect light differently than a regular flat blade: instead of reflecting lights from a flat surface, engineered blades reflect lights from a line or a point. Visually, the overall appearance of the lawn will be less "shinny" and more realistic. And the turf itself will absorb less heat so it won't get as hot as a flat fiber!
2. Engineered blades will help the turf to stand up better! law of physics: imagine how a straw can stand up batter than a flat sheet! The trick is how to make these artificial grass with engineered blades but still provide excellent feels to the touch which Global Syn-Turf's engineers have done a great job with. Our engineered blades are the very original in the marketplace, and still the best your can find!
![]() | My Sierra Super 94 has a diamond shape to it. |
![]() | I am leaning toward either U blade or W blade products. |
![]() | In my opinion, the Double W turf stands up really well, a bit stiff though. |
![]() | I have the Cashmere 70, it is diamond shaped, very soft. |
![]() | I think there are many knockoffs of Global Syn-Turf's products with engineered blades, but not sure how good they are though. |
![]() | I have the double S shape. |
![]() | The explanations make a lot of sense to me. |
![]() | I saw other companies have similar products, I guess they might buy from GST. |
![]() | I have the Trainers Turf and it is a turf with a spine in it. |
![]() | I have the turf called High Sierra, it is also a Diamond shaped product. |
![]() | I like how my U shaped grass standing up really well. |
![]() | I have the RM 84 and I think it is a M shaped or W shaped. |
![]() | I think the U shaped is the best, just a personal opinion. |
![]() | I have the W shaped. |
![]() | I got the Sierra Pro 70 turf, and I believe it is a diamond shaped grass. |
![]() | Well said, William. |
![]() | Being the inventor of engineered blade in the industry, we are miles ahead of our competitions. |
![]() | I think now other companies are copying your products. |
![]() | Good knowledge to have. |
![]() | I got the Cashmere-70, I think it is also diamond shaped. |
![]() | I got the Cashmere-40, and I think it is a "diamond" shape. |
![]() | Very educational. |
![]() | Today, all artificial grass from Global Syn-Turf is made from Engineered blades! |
My suggestion will be GST's Emerald-92Stemgrass. You can find the details on this particular turf at this link: https://www.globalsynturf.com/products/emerald-92-stemgrass
It is a premium grade artificial grass product with very high face weight, extremely dense. The color is very close to Kentucky Bluegrass, and will last a long time.
![]() | If you go with a shorter version, Trainers Turf will work as well. |
![]() | We used to have more Emerald products but we have discontinued some, if you need any, check with us to see if we can get you any discontinued liquidation Emerald products which look the same as Kentucky bluegrass. |
![]() | While after installed from a distance, I don't think it is that noticeable of any type of turf. |
![]() | I just asked a similar question for Rye grass. |
![]() | Oh, it sounds so good! I'd love to have Kentucky bluegrass. I was thinking to cover a patio with synthetic turf, something sweet, like pink and white. Yummy! |
One of the best benefits for using artificial grass in areas that have a lot rain and grass grow fast is that you do NOT need to mown your lawn every 3 days! In States like Florida, the grass grows so fast that people simple can't keep up with them, and spending a lot of money on the maintenance! Also, Florida is also know as a state for "Snow Birds": a lot of people have properties and only live there for a few month, even though most of Snow Birds don't own houses, the rental properties for these Snow birds are a lot: to maintain fast growing natural grass on such properties can be a pain, and totally waste. Artificial turf is a perfect solution! So it is not always right that only the drought areas need artificial grass, warm and rainy areas like Florida need turf as well!
![]() | I think it's very beneficial to any place, not just in Florida! |
![]() | Well said. |
![]() | The answers make sense to me. |
![]() | I definitely have artificial turf for my rental property, no brainer. |
![]() | It will be a great feeling to call your landscaper no need to come for mowing your lawns any more. |
![]() | Florida is one of quickest growing market for artificial grass, and Global Syn-Turf has a big distributor center in Jacksonville, we get our turf products to anywhere within Florida the next day! |
![]() | I definitely see and feel the benefit myself. |
![]() | Good to know. |
![]() | Make a lot of sense to me. |
