I live in Las Vegas, wondering if there is any rebate from the water district for replacing my lawn with artificial turf.

2019-12-23T07:47:46+00:00

Thanks for asking this question! The answer is Yes, there is a rebate of $3.00 per sf if you live in Las Vegas, NV. 60% of a household's water bill goes to watering natural grass lawns. A lot of states on the west that has water supply concerns have incentives to replace grass with drought tolerated alternatives, and artificial turf is the perfect answer to that: you won't lose the beautiful "Lawn" look, and still get the rebate of $3.00 per square foot, up to 10,000 sf! This is the most generous rebate offer in the country and they normally set a budget for such rebates until used up before re-evaluating the program again, so hurry up to take advantage of this asap!

To help people in other major markets for artificial turf, please find the following summary and links:

Las Vegas, NV: Upgrade existing grass to water-smart landscaping and receive $3 per square foot of grass converted to xeriscape.

California: Up to $2 per square foot of removed and replaced turf will be rebated per eligible household.

Arizona: $200 per 1000 sq. ft. to convert non-residential turf to low water use landscape up to a maximum of $3000

The rebate on artificial grass in Arizona is rather small compared with California and Nevada.
California has always consistently offering rebates for all water saving measures, sometimes they have the money, sometimes they run out of funds, but always check with the local water districts will be a good idea.
Very helpful information.
Certain cities in Texas offer rebates, such as Austin.
States on the east coast normally don't have such generous rebates.
I got my $2.00 per sf rebate from California water, I live in Los Angeles area!
Information is helpful.
I am glad I found this thread.
I got my grass replaced and $2.00 per sf rebate and I live in San Francisco east bay.
We can help with our customers to search more of such rebate programs, please just feel free to contact us by phone or email.
Great resources!

I was at a relative's funeral the other day, and saw the patches of grass at cemetery, Is it a good idea to have artificial grass at cemeteries?

2019-12-22T06:24:52+00:00

It would be a great idea to have artificial grass at cemeteries. We have our turf at a cemetery in the San Francisco Bay Area and it looks awesome. It cuts the maintenance by a great deal, and not to mention on water savings. The cemetery has bought extra several rolls of turf in the same dye lot, they store them, with the new buries, they provide an option for the family to choose with extra cost. Being the same dye lot, the grass matching up with each other, so the entire area looks very consistent. We have learned that most families have liked the artificial turf options, and they all have gone with turf. Most of the expenses at a cemetery is having crews maintaining the green look of the facility, once majority of the greens being replaced with fake grass, they can spare the crew for other works.

Once chosen turf for cemeteries, families never need to worry how the loved ones' home look like as they will always perfect and be green all year long!

More and more cemeteries in California are going with artificial turf now days.
I think it is a great idea!
Never thought about turf in cemeteries.

My installer got the turf couple days before he installed it.
This company has a distributor center in Phoenix, AZ, so I assume ordering from AZ should be quick.
I got mine from a local store here in San Diego, picked up myself the second day.
We are the company has the biggest distributor networks and able to get products to our customers within the shortest time in the industry.
I don't know how it took my installer to order the turf, but they delivered the grass couple days before they install them.
If you are nearby one of our distribution centers, we can get an order done within two hours.
Reasonable delivery time.
My installer ordered the turf and delivered, no issues there.
Most of turf orders in California are shipped the same day and transit time is normally 2-3 days. If you are close to our main distribution centers, delivery services by GST is also available.
The installer picked up my turf for me, so there is no problem there. I live in Phoenix, AZ.

I got about half acre to cover with some cheap turf, not having much of activities on it, just to look nice from a distance, any suggestions?

2019-12-21T01:03:46+00:00

You will have two options for your turf application:

1. Checking with us on discontinued SKUs and clearance items, most of the time, such products will be priced very low for liquidation: Once you get such information, you can check with our distributors/dealers near you to make a purchase.

2. If the above option is not available, the cheapest turf in our product lineup here at Global Syn-Turf is StarGrass-35. please go to this link for more details regarding this particular turf: www.globalsynturf.com/products/star-grass-35

Bet you offer great discounts on remnants. Will call you for that
Definitely trying not to do the excavations, bases which can cost a lot of money, it is not just the turf.
Always check with your local store for specials...
I will simply go to craigslist to find the cheapest.
If you can live with the fact of all different colored turf pieced together, getting the liquidated remnants will be the cheapest way to go.
One of my neighbors got their discontinued stuff, really cheap I heard.
I think all their 50 oz products are cheap in price.
In general the turf has been cheap in Phoenix area.
We also have remnants sales, however, the remnants can be different type of turf products and won't look the same while you piece them together.
I will check with the store here in Denver.

I am thinking about selling my house, and wondering if I can transfer my turf warranty to the new owner. I have your turf installed at my house almost 3 years ago, everything looks great and the turf is in excellent shape, it is a good selling point in our neighborhood with artificial grass.

2019-12-20T12:12:21+00:00

Hi, there, unfortunately our warranty is not transferable. If you have further questions regarding our warranty details, you can always visit this link and click on the artificial grass product, and click on the warranty: https://www.globalsynturf.com/artificial-grass-specifications-specs

Didn't know this until just now reading the post.
I hope mine will last and stay well and no need to worry about transferring the warranty.
I didn't know this until reading this post.
You can always contact our warranty department for more details.
Well I think it will nice if the warranty is transferable.
You can always get the home warranty at the time of buying a house.
Good to know that.
Our turf product warranty is not transferrable.

The area where I live, people have the real dye grass, what turf on Global Syn-Turf lineup that look the closest to real Rye grass?

2019-12-19T07:10:06+00:00

We do have two type of artificial grass that look like Rye: S Blade series and Olive, to be more specific, S Blade-50, a cheaper turf, lighter on face weight, a great value; S Blade-66, one of the most realistic artificial grass out there, the face weight is right about the same as natural grass. S Blade-90, the premium product with the heaviest face weight, very dense and flush, cost more than the other two S Blade products.

The other product that looks like Rye in color is Olive-92Stemgrass: this is a turf that fiber has a spine in it and the color looks extremely close to Rye.

Both product lines come in with wider fibers, and we consider both turf as our flagship products.

85
I have Olive-92 installed at my house, looks similar to Rye.
I think their U Blade and W Blade series looks like Rye as well, just a personal opinion.
I have the Double S which also looks like real Rye.
I didn't think of matching any particular real grass while choosing the fake turf, I am glad things turned out good for me.
Both S Blade and Olive series would match.
Personally I think the Olive-92Stemgrass is a closer look of Rye.
I have the S Blade-90 turf, which looks very close to Rye.
I will look into this turf.

I am having a hard time to decide on what kind of turf per face weight, all the information I have seen on artificial grass face weight in regard to the turf's appearance and functionalities are not as helpful. I guess to just ask a simple question, what the face weight for real natural grass?

2019-12-19T01:22:59+00:00

It is a very question. Most of the real natural grass' face weight is right about 60 oz., hopefully this can help you to make up your mind: All of Global Syn-Turf's products ranging from 50 oz to 90 oz. resembles the natural grass look very well, one advantage of having higher face weight is that the grass will standing up better and technically last longer.

90
I have the 94 oz product and I am very happy with it.
The two key factors determine the face weight are the pile height and stitches.
I got 70 oz turf in my yard: realistic!
I compared their 50 oz turf with 60 or 70 oz, to me, they are close enough for normal people to tell the difference.
Between 60 and 70 oz
I think the general rule is the lighter the face weight, the cheaper and the heavier turf will cost more.
I have S Blade-90. It looks very real. Ask my neighbors.
Now I see.
Really good to know this!

Is it difficult to cover patio with synthetic turf? I understand I will need the glue of some special kind. What else?

2019-12-19T01:12:54+00:00

You might depending on the scale of your project: if your artificial turf coverage area is small which doesn't require any tricky layout design and no seams, you should be able to do it yourself, and all you need is the turf and turf glues: you will need to start from one end and gradually working toward the other end when it comes to applying glues, do NOT try to put the glue down for the entire area then laying down the turf.

If your turf area is big and require complicated design and seams, I will suggest you to have installation professionals to do the job for you.

88
I prefer to ask the expert's help too so the outcome will be great.
Putting the glues will definitely need pros to do, once it get mess up, there won't be coming back, the turf can be ruined I assume.
I think it is not a good idea to do a large area on any type of surfaces, the installation might look easy.
As a turf manufacturer, we always recommend installations to be done by professionals.
I did a little piece on my beat-up wood deck, easy.
I saw people to use nails along the edges instead of gluing down.
The installer has to take out some dirt, and put some base materials before laying the turf for my project.
Clint, the area is approx. 16' x 40' and the smaller patio is 16' x 16'. Do you sell turf in rolls? How big are they? How many would I need?
Mason, I have a piece of turf from Home Depot. It's thin. Every time there is a wind, this thing flies all-around my patio. If not for a fence, I would be hunting for it in my neighbor's yard. I'm not sure if the GST turf is heavy enough to withstand our East Coast's breezes. We have hurricanes from time to time. What if it blows to someone's roof or a car or a window?
I didn't use any glue, simply lay the piece loose on my patio floor. The fake grass is pretty heavy, not going anywhere.

I live in North Carolina, and I am so tired of paying those crazy bills for my lawn! I have Bermuda grass, and it's full of weeds unless you spray with weed killers, and those are toxic and expensive! After two years of struggling with dandelions, crabgrass, clover (tons of clover everywhere), I finally gave up and called Trugreen. They charge $60.95 a month for a lawn and $49.95 for shrub/tree service. I also have to pay Terminix $60 per month, just to keep bugs out of my yard. It comes to about $2,000 per year without termite service!!!!! I wish I can install your synthetic lawn and get rid of these ridiculous bills! But here we go.

Our HOA doesn't allow artificial plants or grass! They want us to keep our lawns in pristine condition, but it's tough. Every year companies are charging more and more. I mean, TruGreen is the cheapest guy around here. Other companies ask for $300 a month! Do you have any experience with HOA in North Carolina? Is it possible to get their approval for a synthetic lawn? Any suggestions?

This is a tough question, as we are very familiar with HOAs rules in state of California, but not necessarily all other HOAs throughout the the country. Most of HOAs are very strict with the front appearance of the houses in the community, and can be easy with backyards: so it will be a good idea for you to find out more detailed information and requirements from your HOA, and you can always feel free to send us those requirements at info!globalsynturf.com and we will be very happy to help you to provide necessary information and answer any questions from HOA. In cases that we have our service team in your area, we can even visit your HOA at their meetings to present our company and products.

91
Thank goodness artificial grass is allowed in my area. Phew.
Sometime you have to fight with them in order to get what you want, they have stupid rules and not in line with reality.
Sometimes you need to fight HOA.
HOA can be a pain in a**.
Good luck.
Thank you, I will look into docs and let you know.
I am happy I don't have HOA!
